Anambra Governor Soludo Reopens Onitsha Market Amid Sit-At-Home Protests

Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, has reopened the Onitsha Main Market after a week-long closure due to the Monday sit-at-home order enforced by the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). Despite assurances from the government and security agencies, traders continued to observe the sit-at-home order, leading to the temporary shutdown of the commercial hub.

Governor Soludo warned that the closure could be extended if traders fail to resume business activities on Monday. The decision to close the market sparked protests in Onitsha, with traders demanding an immediate reopening.

The IPOB faction declared a sit-at-home across the South-East, triggering anxiety and affecting businesses in Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo states. Police have assured residents of safety and are prepared to maintain law and order.
