Soludo Shuts Nkwo Nnewi Market for One Week Over Compliance

Anambra State Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has announced the closure of Nkwo Nnewi spare parts market for one week, effective from midnight on February 23, 2026, due to low compliance with the sit-at-home order issued by the state government.

The closure was communicated through a press release by Dr. Law Mefor, the state’s special adviser on trade and market.

Chief Evarist Uba, the market chief, executed the closure on behalf of the governor. This decision follows a previous visit by Soludo to Onitsha main market, which also faced similar issues.

The market is scheduled to reopen on March 2, 2026. Traders have been warned to avoid the market until the reopening date to prevent further enforcement actions from law enforcement agencies.
