South Africa restored power at the Nigerian High Commission after the City of Tshwane disconnected the electricity due to unpaid utility bills. The City's former Mayor, Nasiphi Moya, shared on Twitter that the High Commission's building had its electricity cut off.

The City restored the power once the Nigerian High Commission settled its outstanding debt. This incident is not the first time Nigerian diplomatic missions in South Africa have faced power disconnections over unpaid bills.

In 2023, the Nigerian Consulate in Johannesburg experienced a similar issue, and in September 2025, the High Commission faced another power cut due to accumulated unpaid charges.
