Nigerian Celebrities Protest Tyla's Lagos Concert Amid Xenophobia

A campaign titled ‘South Africa thinks we’re fools’ has been launched by Nigerian celebrities against South African singer Tyla's scheduled concert in Lagos this December. This initiative arises amid ongoing xenophobic attacks in South Africa, where several Nigerians have reportedly been killed.

The campaign began shortly after Tyla's concert announcement, with many Nigerians expressing outrage over her silence regarding the xenophobic violence. Popular OAP Do2dtun condemned those attending the concert, referencing past threats against Nigerian artist Burna Boy in South Africa.

BBNaija’s Pere Egbi urged the Nigeria Immigration Service to deny Tyla and her team visas to enter Nigeria. Solomon Buchi emphasized the need for Nigerians to unite against the concert, criticizing Tyla's lack of activism.

Content creator Sea King and Izzy Ogbeide also voiced their opposition, with Ogbeide attributing Tyla's audacity to Nigerian President Bola Tinubu's failure to advocate for citizens.
