APC South-East Leaders Back Uzodimma, Criticize Wike

The All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership in the South-East has publicly supported Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma and the Progressive Governors’ Forum, rejecting criticisms made by Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory. In a joint statement signed by Dr Ijeomah Arodiogbu, the APC National Vice Chairman for the South-East, and party chairmen from Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo states, the APC leaders described Wike's remarks as “most unfortunate, reprehensible and completely unacceptable.” They accused Wike of attempting to undermine the political fortunes of the APC governors ahead of the 2027 elections, asserting that these governors have delivered significant development and secured over 25 percent of presidential votes in their states during the 2023 election.

The statement emphasized that the governors are independent elected leaders deserving of respect and called on Wike to withdraw his attacks. The APC South-East leadership also warned against any attempts to undermine the party's structures in the region and affirmed their solidarity with all APC governors and candidates for the upcoming elections.
