Southern Kaduna Group Advocates for Community Self-Defense

In response to the escalating insecurity in Southern Kaduna, a community development association has urged residents to take proactive measures for their safety. During a meeting held on Thursday in Kaduna, the chairman of the committee, Mannaseh Tukson, expressed concerns over recurrent attacks and kidnappings in the area.

He emphasized the need for communities to form vigilant groups and adopt local security arrangements, stating that dependence on government protection is no longer adequate. Tukson highlighted that communities must unite across ethnic and religious lines to effectively defend themselves against criminal elements.

Furthermore, the group distanced itself from the Community Development Association (CDA) forum, labeling it an illegitimate body acting against the interests of the people. The committee also called for elected representatives to be accountable for community development and reaffirmed support for SOKAPU's leadership in promoting peace and security in the region.
