Sowore Critiques UBA Over Graduate Trainee Controversy

Omoyele Sowore, a human rights activist, has intensified his commentary on the controversy surrounding a graduate trainee in UBA's Graduate Management Accelerated Programme (GMAP) who addressed billionaire Tony Elumelu by his first name. Following Sowore's earlier posts on the matter, a senior official from UBA reached out to him directly.

Sowore argued that the outrage over the trainee's informal address was indicative of deeper societal issues, suggesting that if Elumelu's children were to address a family employee by their first name, it would not provoke the same reaction. He emphasized that the situation should not merely be viewed as a cultural misunderstanding but as a significant class debate.

Sowore also called for UBA to act swiftly regarding the welfare of the trainee involved, highlighting the need for attention to her situation amidst the controversy.
