Sowore's Trial for Cyberstalking Bola Tinubu Begins Amid Legal Objections

The trial of Omoyele Sowore, former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, for alleged cyberstalking of President Bola Tinubu is set to commence on January 22 in Abuja. The Department of State Services (DSS) amended the charges against Sowore, accusing him of knowingly transmitting false messages via social media platforms.

Sowore faces two counts of cyberstalking and cybercrime under the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act of 2014. The trial faced delays as Sowore's counsel objected to the prosecution's failure to provide specific evidence.

The defense argued that the omission violated Sowore's right to a fair trial.
