Speaker Abbas Tajudeen Sponsors 120 Inmates for Exams
Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, sponsored 120 inmates from the Medium Security Correctional Centre, Kuje, for the National Examination Council (NECO) and National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) examinations. This philanthropic initiative took place during the celebration of his 61st birthday.
The event emphasized the importance of education and personal development, with Tajudeen encouraging inmates to believe in a better future, learn skills, and prepare to contribute positively to society upon their release. His message, delivered by his Special Assistant on Humanitarian Affairs, David Igbe Okponya, highlighted that one's past does not define their future.
Previous beneficiaries of his educational support shared their success stories, with one inmate, Chikwendu, noting his achievement of seven distinctions in the NECO examination. The event also featured the cutting of a birthday cake with the inmates, reinforcing the Speaker's commitment to education for incarcerated individuals.
