Sporting Lagos Returns to NPFL with 1-0 Win

Sporting Lagos confirmed their promotion back to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) after a 1-0 victory against Osun United on Thursday. The match, held in Ileogbo, Osun State, saw Alex Leme score the only goal, while goalkeeper Clinton Lawal produced a series of crucial saves to maintain the lead.

This victory allowed Sporting Lagos to top the Nigeria National League (NNL) Conference B table with 36 points, just ahead of Akwa United, who have 35 points after defeating Solut FC 2-1 in Awka. With one match remaining in the regular season, Sporting Lagos requires a win to secure their return to the top flight after spending two seasons in the lower division.

The promotion means that Sporting Lagos will join Inter Lagos and Ikorodu City in representing Lagos in the NPFL, while Doma United has already secured promotion. The NNL will leave one promotion slot undecided, with Jigawa Golden Stars and Ranchers Bees also vying for promotion.
