Sporting Lagos Wins NNL Championship on Goal Difference

Sporting Lagos was crowned the Nigeria National League (NNL) champions on goal difference after finishing the Super 4 playoff with a total of six points. Despite suffering a 1-0 defeat to their city rivals, Inter Lagos, in the final round held at Remo Star Stadium in Iken, Sporting Lagos secured their first NNL title.

The match saw Inter Lagos take an early lead in the seventh minute through Hassan Bashiru, who skillfully slotted the ball past goalkeeper Gafar Olaniyan. However, Sporting Lagos maintained their composure and ensured the scoreline remained 1-0, preserving their superior goal difference.

Jeffery Butler's side concluded the tournament with a goal difference of plus four, which was two goals better than Inter Lagos. This triumph marks Sporting Lagos's first NNL crown and the fifth trophy in the club's history since its establishment in 2022.
