SSANU Issues Ultimatum to FG for Renegotiation Deadline

The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), led by Comrade Moham Haruna Ibrahim, has issued a final ultimatum to the Federal Government regarding the renegotiation of agreements affecting non-teaching staff in the university system. During the 54th National Executive Council meeting held at Ekiti State University on March 26, 2026, SSANU expressed serious concerns about the slow pace and inconclusive nature of ongoing negotiations.

The union has set a deadline for the Federal Government to conclude the renegotiation process and sign a new agreement by April 30, 2026. Should the government fail to meet this deadline, SSANU, in partnership with the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of the National Association of Academic Technologists (NASU), will initiate indefinite and comprehensive industrial action.

The NEC has made it clear that there will be no retreat from this decision if the government does not comply.
