Stakeholders Unite to Enhance Nigeria's Food Security

A conference held in Lagos focused on strengthening food security in Nigeria by enhancing coordination across the agricultural value chain. The event, themed "Seed to Feed: Strengthening Agricultural Input for Food Security," brought together various stakeholders, including Abisola Olusanya, representing Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and Kola Masha, Chief Executive Officer of AFEX.

Ayodeji Balogun delivered a keynote address emphasizing the need to improve farmers' access to quality inputs. Kudzai Gumunyu, Division Head of Agribusiness at First City Monument Bank, highlighted the importance of financial institutions in supporting Nigeria's agriculture, where smallholder farmers contribute nearly 90% of agricultural production.

The discussions centered on building inclusive financial models to address unique realities, strengthening risk mitigation frameworks, and ensuring farmers have access to the capital needed for growth. The conference concluded with a commitment from First City Monument Bank to continue supporting agribusiness and enhancing access to finance.
