Stakeholders Advocate for Sustainable Ports at Dockworkers Day

On the occasion of the 2026 Dockworkers Day celebration held in Apapa, Lagos, stakeholders rallied for cleaner and safer port operations. The event, organized by the Ship Correspondents Association of Nigeria, brought together labor leaders, government officials, and maritime industry stakeholders.

The theme, "Green Port: Sustainable Practices in Dockwork," was highlighted by Comrade Princ Dr. Adeyanju Adewal, who stressed the urgent need for the maritime industry to embrace environmental sustainability.

Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, Managing Director of the Nigerian Port Authority (NPA), described dockworkers as indispensable to the maritime value chain and emphasized their role in global trade.

The celebration aimed to honor dockworkers and stimulate discussions on the future of sustainable port operations, recognizing that without dockworkers, the maritime transport system would struggle to function effectively.
