Stakeholders Push for Investment in Africa's Gemstone Industry

Stakeholders in Africa's gold and gemstone industry are calling for stronger investment platforms, skills development, and increased women's participation as they approach the fifth anniversary of the Gold and Gemstones Conference & Exhibition (GGCE 2026). Scheduled for November 24-28, 2026, in Lagos, the event will focus on the theme, "African Women Driving Africa’s Gold and Gemstone Economy: Catalysing Investment, Innovation and Global Competitiveness." The conference aims to connect investors with opportunities in mining, processing, jewellery manufacturing, and technology, while promoting local capacity building.

Janet Adeyemi, President of Women in Mining Nigeria, emphasized the event's significance in showcasing the industry's potential and promised a more impactful edition. The conference will also feature an Awards and Recognition segment to honor African women in various roles within the industry.

Additionally, GGCE 2026 will include hands-on jewellery-making masterclasses to enhance skills among entrepreneurs. Tunde Obokhai, Managing Director of DCS Integrated Media Limited, is coordinating efforts to elevate the event's international competitiveness.
