New Gratuity Scheme for State House Retirees Approved

The Presidency announced that retirees from the State House will be among the first to benefit from a newly approved gratuity scheme introduced by President Bola Tinubu's administration. Temitop Fashedemi, the Permanent Secretary of the State House, disclosed this during a send-off ceremony for two retiring directors and two deputy directors.

The Federal Executive Council approved the scheme in March 2026, which will take effect on January 1, 2026. It provides gratuity equivalent to one year's basic salary for federal civil servants who have served at least ten years, complementing the contributory pension scheme established in 2004.

Fashedemi emphasized that the policy aims to ensure public servants receive adequate recognition and support upon retirement. The event also featured tributes to retiring staff, highlighting their dedication and service to the nation.
