Kwankwaso Warns of Risks in Proposed State Police

Rabiu Kwankwaso, the Vice Presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) and national leader of the Kwankwassiyya Movement, expressed concerns regarding the proposed establishment of state police in Nigeria. Speaking with News Central TV on Thursday night, he stated that the creation of state police stems from significant leadership failures in Northern Nigeria.

Kwankwaso warned that governors could exploit local police forces for political protection, which poses various dangers. He emphasized that the need for state police would not have arisen if there had been effective leadership in the region.

Additionally, he cautioned against the unrestricted circulation of small arms, indicating that such actions could exacerbate the issues related to state police.
