January 2026 FAAC Allocation: Borno Leads with Growth

In January 2026, the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) disbursed a total net allocation of ₦703.26 billion to states, marking a 7.18% increase in revenue distribution compared to December 2025. The total gross distributable revenue for December 2025 was ₦2.59 trillion, with allocations of ₦546.14 billion to the federal government and ₦511.17 billion to local government councils.

The latest allocation data indicates a sustained growth trend, driven by improvements in statutory revenue, VAT inflow, and electronic transaction levies. Borno state recorded a significant 46.14% year-on-year increase in net allocation, amounting to ₦13.04 billion in January 2025 and ₦17.09 billion in December 2025.

This growth is attributed to higher statutory transfers and VAT receipts, alongside ongoing economic recovery efforts and reconstruction activities, which have bolstered fiscal inflows for the state.
