Okai Warns PDP Membership Poses Risks for Politicians

Usman Austin Okai, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has expressed concerns regarding the stability of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) following a recent Appeal Court verdict. He described the situation within the PDP as a "ticking time bomb" and cautioned that staying in the party is a risk no serious politician should take, particularly with the 2027 elections approaching.

Okai's remarks came after the court affirmed a decision related to the PDP's Ibadan convention. He interpreted this as a signal that the matter could escalate to the Supreme Court.

Okai urged members of the PDP, including Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed Turaki, to join the ADC, which he views as a viable alternative. He characterized the current state of the PDP as a lost cause and suggested that remaining in the party could inadvertently aid the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
