Adeyanju Urges Tinubu to Protect Nigeria's Democracy

Activist lawyer Deji Adeyanju has called on President Bola Tinubu to take action against what he describes as growing anti-democratic forces that could undermine Nigeria's political system. Adeyanju urged Tinubu to halt attempts to impose a one-party state in Nigeria and called on former presidents and statesmen to condemn these actions.

He expressed concern over individuals and groups within the administration allegedly working to weaken opposition parties, particularly the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC), ahead of the 2027 general elections. Adeyanju warned that these actions pose a grave threat to Nigeria's democracy and long-term stability, risking public confidence in democratic institutions.

He emphasized the need for a strong opposition, which he views as a threat to the president's re-election prospects, and called for urgent measures to counteract these anti-democratic forces.
