Council Defends INEC Against ADC's Public Criticism

The Council has called on the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to stop its attacks on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which is led by Amupitan. The Council's statement, made by Comrade Israel Boma, highlights that INEC operates within the confines of the law.

The Council noted the recent removal of David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola from official positions and emphasized that INEC is a neutral regulatory body mandated to uphold the rule of law and ensure due process in Nigeria's electoral system. The Council warned against attempts by aggrieved factions within the ADC to misplace blame on INEC for internal disputes, describing such actions as unfair and irresponsible.

It urged the factions to seek peaceful resolutions through legal means rather than resorting to public confrontations and unwarranted criticism of the commission.
