Nigeria Implements Nigeria First Policy in Automotive Sector
The Federal Government of Nigeria has approved the full implementation of the Nigeria First Policy concerning the procurement of vehicles in the automotive sector. This initiative aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope Transformative Agenda aimed at promoting local industrialization and economic self-reliance.

Adedokun, the Director-General of the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), emphasized that all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) must prioritize the purchase of domestically assembled vehicles and are prohibited from procuring foreign vehicles unless a waiver is granted. The circular also mandates that MDAs submit details of all vehicles purchased since 2020, including purchase dates, prices, brands, models, and payment evidence, within three months after each financial year.
Quarterly procurement reports must include itemized automotive purchases.
