Atiku Abubakar Critiques Tinubu's Poverty Cycle Claims

Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, accused President Bola Tinubu’s government of fostering a vicious cycle of poverty among Nigerians. In a statement signed by his spokesman, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku expressed concern over the government's justification for removing fuel subsidies while allocating more funds to state governments.

He highlighted the education funding crisis as a significant issue, criticizing the administration's student loan policy. Atiku stated that the removal of subsidies has led to increased costs for transportation, food, and education, making it difficult for families to afford university fees.

He pointed out that after raising education costs, the government established NELFUND to provide loans to students, questioning the logic of offering loans to families already struggling financially due to government policies. Atiku concluded that this approach does not represent progress but rather perpetuates a cycle of poverty created by the government.
