Sudan Recalls Ambassador to Ethiopia After Airport Attack

Sudan has recalled its ambassador to Ethiopia for consultations after accusing Ethiopia of being involved in a drone strike that targeted Khartoum International Airport on Monday. Mohieddin Salem, the Sudanese Armed Forces' foreign minister, stated that the attack's origin was proven to be Ethiopia, which is considered a sister nation.

The Sudanese military reported that their air defense intercepted a drone near the airport, with residents hearing explosions and seeing smoke. The ongoing conflict in Sudan, which began in April 2023, has seen the Sudanese Armed Forces and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces increasingly engage in drone warfare across various regions.

Earlier in March, the Sudanese military accused the RSF of launching a drone attack inside Ethiopian territory, marking a significant escalation in regional tensions. Despite these allegations, the UAE has repeatedly denied accusations of supplying weapons to the RSF.
