Sultan of Sokoto Urges Government to Regulate Social Media Amid Fake News Concerns

The Sultan of Sokoto urged the Nigerian government to regulate social media to combat the spread of fake news, which poses a threat to national unity. Speaking at the Northern Traditional Rulers Council meeting in Birnin Kebbi, he expressed concerns about misinformation online.

The Sultan also praised the Nigerian military for their sacrifices in restoring stability, particularly in areas affected by insecurity. The meeting, themed on dialogue and cooperation to address security challenges, was attended by key figures including Emir of Borno Abubakar Elkanemi and Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idri.
