Sultan of Sokoto Urges Government Regulation of Social Media to Combat Fake News

Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar, urged the Nigerian government to regulate social media to curb the spread of fake news, citing its potential danger to national security. Speaking at the Northern Traditional Rulers Council in Birnin Kebbi, he expressed concerns over the rapid dissemination of misinformation online and the ease with which Nigerians believe false information.

The Sultan also commended the Nigerian military for its efforts in combating insecurity, particularly banditry, across the country. He emphasized the need for sustained military operations to restore security in affected regions.
