Sultan of Sokoto Denies Endorsement of Tinubu for 2027

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has refuted claims that he endorsed President Bola Tinubu for re-election in the 2027 general election. This clarification came after social media posts circulated alleging his support for Tinubu.

On Tuesday, the Sultan’s media team, represented by Prince Bashir Adefaka, described these reports as false and urged the public to disregard them. The statement emphasized that the Sultan has never made such a political declaration and will not do so due to the nature of his office as a traditional and religious leader.

The media team asserted that the Sultan serves all Nigerians without political bias and that attempts to associate him with any political figure ahead of the elections are misleading. The palace reiterated the Sultan's commitment to national unity and urged caution against unverified information on social media, particularly regarding respected traditional and religious institutions.
