Sultan of Sokoto Denies Endorsing Tinubu for 2027

The Media Team of the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, issued a statement refuting claims that the Sultan endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid for the 2027 general elections. Signed by Prince Bashir Adefaka, the statement described the circulating reports on social media as false and misleading.

It emphasized that the Sultan, as a father figure to all Nigerians, does not support or campaign for any political candidate. The statement clarified that it is impossible for the Sultan to have made such a declaration and urged Nigerians to disregard attempts to involve the traditional ruler in partisan politics.

The Sultan’s role requires him to remain impartial while providing guidance and blessings to all Nigerians, regardless of political affiliation. The statement also called on journalists and social media users to verify information before sharing it, warning against the spread of misinformation.

This clarification comes amid rising political activities as the 2027 elections approach.
