NCAA Summons Air Peace Over Flight Disruptions

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) summoned Air Peace for an urgent meeting on Monday to address numerous complaints regarding flight disruptions and passenger treatment. NCAA Director of Public Affairs, Micheal Achimugu, highlighted complaints about a diverted Air Peace flight from London Heathrow to Gatwick over the weekend.

The meeting aimed to discuss the unexplained disruptions, including reports from passengers on the Heathrow-Abuja flight that was rerouted. Achimugu emphasized that the NCAA would not tolerate the abandonment of passengers and would take appropriate action based on the facts of the incidents, in accordance with Part 19 of NCAA regulations 2023.

Air Peace clarified that no passengers were left stranded during the incident; the flight returned to base due to a cracked windshield, suspected to be caused by a bird strike. Passengers were safely disembarked, and options for rebooking were provided, including accommodations for those affected.
