Sunday Igboho to Return to Nigeria After Exile, Receives Support from Traditional Rulers

Sunday Igboho, a prominent Yoruba activist, is preparing to return to Nigeria after being in exile. He rose to fame in January 2021 for issuing eviction notices to herders in Oyo State, resulting in violence and heightened scrutiny from the government.

Following clashes with security forces, Igboho fled to Benin Republic but was later arrested and detained. Despite facing legal challenges and being on Nigeria's wanted list, Igboho is now planning his return with the backing of key traditional rulers like Oba Rashidi Ladoja, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, and Oba Olusola Alao.

His spokesperson, Olayomi Koiki, revealed that efforts are underway to ensure a safe return for Igboho, although no specific date has been announced. Igboho's camp has expressed gratitude to Yoruba monarchs and supporters for their backing during his exile.
