Nigerian Goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali Leaves Chippa United, Becomes Free Agent

Stanley Nwabali, a goalkeeper for Chippa United and the Nigerian national team Super Eagles, has departed from Chippa United after requesting to leave despite having signed a three-year contract extension until 2024. The club accepted his request and granted him a release.

Nwabali, who joined Chippa United from Katsina United in the Nigeria Premier Football League in 2022, made 70 appearances for the club and was named team captain in 2024. He rose to prominence on the international stage after becoming the first-choice goalkeeper for the Super Eagles following impressive performances in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d'Ivoire.

Chippa United did not disclose if Nwabali has secured a new club, but reports suggest potential interest from clubs in the South African Premier Soccer League, Europe, and Saudi Arabia.
