Tinubu Rewards Super Falcons with $100,000 Each for WAFCON Win

The Super Falcons of Nigeria players received the naira equivalent of $100,000 each after the Federal Government completed the payment of President Bola Tinubu’s reward for winning the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON). The National Sports Commission (NSC) confirmed this payment on November 2, stating that members of the coaching crew and other officials received $50,000 each.

This payment fulfills Tinubu’s promise following the team’s record-extending 10th continental title in July 2025. The players had also received title documents for three-bedroom apartments in Abuja and certificates confirming their national honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON).

NSC Chairman Shehu Dikko expressed gratitude to the President for fulfilling his commitment, noting that this prompt payment marked a significant improvement over previous experiences where athletes waited years for promised rewards. The Super Falcons won their 10th WAFCON title by defeating Morocco 3-2 in the final held in Rabat.
