Supreme Court to Hear ADC Leadership Dispute on April 22

The Supreme Court has set April 22 for a hearing concerning the leadership tussle within the African Democratic Congress (ADC). A five-member panel led by Justice Lawal Garba will oversee the proceedings.

The case involves an appeal marked as CA/CV/180/2026, filed by an ex-senator who is seeking an order to stay the execution of a previous court ruling delivered on March 12. This ruling dismissed the ex-senator's appeal related to the ongoing leadership dispute within the party.

The appeal was initially rejected by Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in Abuja, who refused to grant injunctive relief in an ex parte application filed by Nafiu Bala Gomb, a chieftain of the party. The Court of Appeal, in a ruling marked CA/ABJ/CV/145/2026, upheld objections raised by Gomb's legal team, led by Luka Musa Haruna (SAN), stating that the appeal was incompetent and did not reflect the rules of the trial court.
