Court Adjourns ADC Leadership Dispute Indefinitely

The Federal High Court in Abuja has indefinitely adjourned a suit challenging the leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), with former Senate President David Mark as the plaintiff. Mark's counsel, Luka Musa Haruna, requested the transfer of the case to a different judge, Justice Emeka Nwite, citing a letter addressed to the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court.

The court was informed that the Supreme Court dismissed an interlocutory appeal filed by Mark against the proceedings at the apex court. The defense, represented by Sulaiman Usman, strongly opposed the transfer request, arguing that it was an attempt to invite judicial indulgence.

Justice Nwite stated that the court could not act on the transfer request without hearing from all parties involved, as doing otherwise would breach the defendants' fundamental rights. The matter has been adjourned sine die, allowing parties to file and ensure service of the transfer request letter to the court while awaiting direction from the Chief Judge regarding the reassignment of the suit.
