Supreme Court to Hear David Mark's ADC Appeal April 14

The Supreme Court will hear an appeal filed by David Mark, the embattled national chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), on April 14. Mark is seeking an order to stay the execution of a March 12 judgment from the Court of Appeal, which he finds unsatisfactory. The case, identified as SC/CV/180/2026, involves several parties, including Hon. Nafiu Bala Gomb and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Mark's legal team, led by lawyer Realwan Okpanachi, is requesting the apex court to restrain INEC from recognizing any leadership changes within the ADC pending the determination of the appeal. The appeal was filed on March 16, and the record was transmitted to the Supreme Court by March 31. Mark's motion also seeks to maintain the status quo regarding the party's leadership structure. The lower court, presided over by Justice Emeka Nwite, had previously ruled on a related matter, which Gomb is attempting to enforce.
