Supreme Court Strikes Out PDP States' Suit Against Emergency Rule in Rivers

The Supreme Court in Nigeria dismissed a lawsuit brought by 11 PDP-led states challenging the declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State. The court split in a 6-1 judgment, ruling that the plaintiffs failed to establish a cause of action.

President Bola Tinubu had declared the emergency in Rivers State, leading to the suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the state assembly members. The court held that the matter did not warrant its jurisdiction, ultimately striking out the suit.
