Supreme Court to Hear Mark's Appeal on ADC Leadership

The Supreme Court will hear an appeal filed by Mark, the former Senate President, concerning the leadership tussle within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Tuesday. This appeal is part of an ongoing legal battle over the party's leadership crisis, which has led to rival factions within the ADC.

Mark's counsel, Rilwan Okpanachi, is urging the apex court to grant an order to stay the execution of a court judgment delivered on March 12, which requested the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to alter the party's current leadership structure pending the appeal's determination. The appeal follows a ruling delivered by Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in Abuja on September 4, 2025.

The leadership crisis has deepened, with rival factions, including one led by Nafiu Bala, staging protests and demanding recognition from INEC. The Supreme Court's decision is expected to play a significant role in determining the direction of the ADC's leadership crisis.
