Supreme Court Upholds Conviction of Lamido’s Son Over Undeclared $40,000

The Supreme Court of Nigeria has upheld the conviction of Aminu Lamido, the son of a former governor of Jigawa State, for failing to declare $40,000 at the airport. The apex court dismissed his appeal, ruling that the prosecution had proven the charges of economic and financial crimes brought against him by the EFCC.

Aminu Lamido was convicted in 2015 by the Federal High Court in Kano and ordered to forfeit 25% of the undeclared foreign currency. The Supreme Court's decision affirms the lower court's ruling, concluding that the appeal lacked merit.
