Akpabio Claims Terror Attacks Distract President Tinubu

Godswill Akpabio, the Senate President, asserted that the recent increase in terrorist attacks across Nigeria is intended to distract President Bola Tinubu from implementing his reforms. Akpabio made this statement during a goodwill message at the Nigeria Revenue Service headquarters in Abuja.

He expressed confidence that the attacks would cease following Tinubu's recent electoral victory. Akpabio's comments come in the context of a rapidly deteriorating security situation, highlighted by a controversial airstrike by the Nigerian Air Force that killed civilians in Yobe State, which Amnesty International condemned.

The airstrike targeted a Boko Haram logistics hub but resulted in significant civilian casualties, with local sources estimating the death toll to be as high as 200. The U.S.

Department of State has also issued a travel advisory due to the escalating security threats across Nigeria, including the rise of Islamist insurgents and criminal gangs.
