18-Year-Old Woman in Custody After Viral Abuse Video

Harrison Gwamnishu, a human rights activist, announced that an 18-year-old woman named Chisom is now in police custody following a viral abuse video. The video depicted her with facial injuries, allegedly inflicted by her husband.

Gwamnishu disclosed that Chisom was identified as a 15-year-old when her relationship with the suspect reportedly began. Despite the disturbing nature of the video, Chisom initially pleaded against the arrest of her husband, claiming he was almost backing down.

However, Gwamnishu and the Lagos State chapter of the Human Rights Foundation intervened, leading to the suspect's detention at the Isheri Oshun division of the Lagos State Police. Gwamnishu further revealed that Chisom was taken away from her family at the age of seven after her mother passed away, which has contributed to her current trauma.

The organization continues to support Chisom as the police investigation progresses.
