Suspected Cable Vandal Electrocuted in Jigawa State

On July 31, 2026, a suspected cable vandal was electrocuted while allegedly trying to cut a high-tension cable along the Ringim-Sintilimawa Road in Jigawa State. The incident was confirmed by SP Shi’isu Adam, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Jigawa State Police Command, who reported that a distress call was received at about 9:00 am regarding a motionless body.

Upon arrival, police operatives found severe burn injuries on the victim's hands, chest, and pelvic area. Items believed to be used in the vandalism, including hand gloves, a hacksaw, and sacks, were recovered from the scene.

Preliminary findings indicated that the deceased was electrocuted during the act. The body was taken to the hospital, where death was confirmed.

Efforts are ongoing to identify the deceased, and the police have urged residents to refrain from tampering with electrical installations. The command remains committed to protecting public assets and will prosecute anyone involved in such criminal acts.
