Suspected Vandal Electrocuted While Cutting Cable in Jigawa

A suspected vandal died after being electrocuted while allegedly trying to cut a high-tension cable along the Ringim-Sintilimawa Road in Jigawa State on July 31, 2026, at approximately 9:00 am. The incident was confirmed by SP Shi’isu Adam, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Jigawa State Police Command, following a distress call about a motionless body.

Upon arrival, police observed severe burn injuries on the victim's hands, chest, and pelvic area. Items believed to be used in the vandalism, including hand gloves, a hacksaw, and sacks, were found at the scene.

The body was taken to the hospital, where a medical doctor confirmed the death. Efforts are ongoing to identify the deceased, and the case is under investigation.

SP Adam urged residents to refrain from tampering with electrical installations and to report suspicious activities. He reaffirmed the police command's commitment to protecting public assets and prosecuting those involved in such criminal acts.
