Vandal Crushed Under Collapsed Transmission Tower in Delta

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) reported that a suspected vandal was discovered crushed to death under a collapsed transmission tower along the 330kV Ughelli-Benin transmission line in Delta State. This incident was identified during an intensive line patrol by TCN's Delta Sub-Region, Lines Maintenance Department (LMD) on a Saturday, following a tripping of the line due to an earth fault.

The patrol team traced the fault to Tower 101, which had collapsed, and the body of the suspected vandal was found trapped between the tower members. Further inspection revealed that Tower 101 on the adjacent Ughelli-Sapele 330kV transmission line had also been vandalized but remained standing.

TCN condemned the act of vandalism and urged host communities and the public to report any suspicious activities around power installations. The company emphasized the importance of protecting power infrastructure, stating that vandalism endangers lives and disrupts power supply.
