Court of Appeal Reserves Judgment in Akpabio and Natasha's Suspension Appeals

The Court of Appeal in Abuja has reserved judgment in the appeals filed by Senator Godswill Akpabio and Senator Natasha Akpoti challenging the Federal High Court's decision to invalidate their six-month suspensions by the Senate. Akpoti and Akpabio's legal teams argued that the suspensions were unconstitutional and violated their rights as senators.

Senator Akpabio's lead counsel, Kehinde Ogunwumiju, urged the court to nullify the judgment, citing errors and miscarriage of justice. Additionally, Senator Akpoti and Uduaghan also appealed against a N5 million fine imposed by the court for contempt.

Justice Binta Nyako had found the Senate guilty of civil contempt over a Facebook post made during an ongoing case against the Senate.
