SWAN Mourns Nigeria Aquatics Federation President Dunkwu

The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) expressed profound sorrow over the death of Chamberlain Nnamdi Dunkwu, the President of the Nigeria Aquatics Federation (NAQF), who passed away on March 7, 2026. In a letter from SWAN's Secretary General, Ikenna Okonkwo, addressed to the NAQF Executive Board, the association conveyed its shock and described Dunkwu's demise as a significant loss to the entire Nigerian sports community.

SWAN President Isaiah Benjamin highlighted Dunkwu's unwavering commitment to the growth and development of aquatic sports in Nigeria, noting his tireless efforts to promote aquatic disciplines and inspire athletes and administrators alike. The letter emphasized that Dunkwu's vision and passion for serving Nigerian sports would leave a lasting legacy.

The association extended thoughts and prayers to Dunkwu's family and colleagues during this difficult time. Additionally, it was mentioned that the NAQF was scheduled to hold a talent discovery event tagged "Swim Future" and would be electing a new president in the coming months.
