SWAN Advocates for Stronger Ties with NFF in Abuja Visit

The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has advocated for a more structured relationship with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), highlighting the necessity for effective communication, transparency, and sustained engagement among stakeholders in Nigerian football administration. This call was made during a working visit to the NFF Secretariat in Abuja, where SWAN's national leadership engaged with the federation's interim management, including Acting Secretary-General Dr Emmanuel Ikpeme and Acting Deputy Secretary-General Dr Ademola Olajire.

The visit was part of SWAN's broader consultations following its participation in a meeting with a FIFA and CAF delegation that assessed Nigerian football administration issues. SWAN presented an 18-page position paper detailing challenges and potential reforms.

SWAN President Isaiah Kemje Benjamin emphasized the role of sports journalists as vital stakeholders, advocating for their involvement in public discourse and accountability in football. He expressed SWAN's readiness to collaborate with the NFF to ensure accurate information dissemination and constructive engagement on football administration concerns.
