SWAN Demands Representation in NFF and NSC Board Inauguration

The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has demanded its inclusion in the anticipated Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Normalisation Committee and the restoration of its representation in the NFF Electoral College, as well as appropriate representation on the NFF Executive Committee. These demands were made in a communiqué issued after SWAN's 2026 Triennial National Delegates Congress held in Kaduna, signed by Secretary-General Ambassador Ikenna Okonkwo.

The congress, which included delegates from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, discussed the state of Nigerian sports and the role of sports journalism. SWAN emphasized the importance of sports journalists as stakeholders in Nigerian football and called for a transparent process to restore stability in the sport following recent leadership changes in the NFF.

The association also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his reforms in Nigerian football and urged for timely funding for championships to ensure adequate preparation and participation.
