SWAT Unit Arrests Railway Vandal in Ogun State

Operatives of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) unit of the Ogun State Police Command arrested a 36-year-old suspect, Shobande Taofeek, for his involvement in the vandalization of railway assets. The arrest occurred after police linked him to the illegal dismantling and theft of railway iron rods along the Arigbajo axis of Ogun State.
A statement from the command spokesperson, CSP Babaseyi Oluseyi, indicated that the operation, which took place on October 23, 2026, followed intelligence-gathering efforts regarding ongoing thefts of public assets in the area. Upon his arrest, Taofeek cooperated with officers and led them to an uncompleted building where 16 railway iron rods and two gas cylinders, believed to have been used in the theft, were recovered.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Taofeek had previously executed similar vandalism operations on three occasions before his arrest.
