NBC Urges Tinubu to Tackle Nigeria's Insecurity Crisis

The Nigerian Baptist Convention (NBC), led by President Dr. Israel Akanji, has called on President Bola Tinubu to urgently confront the escalating insecurity in Nigeria.

During the NBC's 113th annual session in Abuja, Akanji condemned the occurrence of mass burials in states such as Jos and Benue, labeling them as totally unacceptable. He emphasized the need for decisive action to address the ongoing violence, which has resulted in the deaths of innocent people in various regions, including Plateau, Niger, Kogi, Kwara, Katsina, Kebbi, Zamfara, and Borno.

Akanji described the situation as a genocidal crisis marked by kidnappings and banditry, urging the judiciary and police to accelerate arrests and prosecutions in response to the insecurity. He criticized the current administration for allowing impunity to fester, stressing that it is no longer acceptable to merely pay lip service to the issue of security in the country.
