Taiwan Opens Employment Gold Card to 12 Industries Without Sponsorship

Taiwan has released a list of 12 industries whose professionals can apply for the Employment Gold Card without needing a local sponsor. The Employment Gold Card serves multiple purposes, including a resident visa, work permit, Alien Resident Certificate (ARC), and re-entry permit, allowing holders to travel freely in and out of Taiwan for a validity period of one to three years.

The application process is entirely online. The eligible sectors are managed by the relevant ministries or regulatory bodies that assess applicants in those fields.

The initiative aims to attract skilled foreign talent by eliminating the typical requirement for employer sponsorship, thereby simplifying the relocation and employment process for individuals in these industries. The sectors covered include biotechnology, digital affairs, culture, arts, and national defense, reflecting a broad approach to drawing professionals across various fields.
